I am directed by The Earl of Aberdeen to return to you herewith the original Inclosures in Your Letter of the 16th Instant, respecting certain Proceedings which had been held in Hong Kong in a case of murder committed by some Chinese Subjects of Her Majesty within that Island.
Lord Aberdeen's attention has been attracted, in perusing the account of those Proceedings, by Sir Henry Pottinger's observation, that the Chinese Government had tacitly waved the pretension first advanced in China at hanking to try Natives
